Emma’s Birthday Week Part 2

by Emily Honsvick 0 comments

A month late, but I finally got there. :)

A couple of days after Emma's birthday my Mom and Dad come to visit. Emma loved having her Granny and Grampa here. And I loved that we were finally all healthy for their visit haha. We of course had to go on a few adventures while they were here, so off to the zoo we went. I have been to a handful of zoo's in my life, and lets just say Sacramento Zoo did not make the top of my list. But that didn't stop us from having fun!

The rest of the week was full parks, eating outside, chocolate, and family. A great combination if you ask me :) That weekend we finally had Emmas birthday party. I tried to keep it simple and cute. My mom helped me modify a  H&M dress that I found at Goodwill. (By helped, I mean did it herself haha) It was super cute on her, she looked like a little princess. I made a few banners for the occasion. A happy birthday banner and several tissue paper banners. I loved how quick everything came together, It made the day a lot more fun.

The food was what I was sweating over. lol! Most people would be happy with cake and ice cream, but not me. The party menu ended up so yummy that I might have had the same food several times since haha! We ended up making:

  • Zebra Popcorn
  • club sandwich skewers
  • fruit pizza cookie
  • veggies & dip
  • Semi homemade strawberry lemonade
  • Cake (can't forget that one!)

It turned out perfect! The weather was perfect and spending the day with family was perfect. I couldn't have asked for a better day for my sweet Emma.

Happy Birthday Little Miss Emma!

Birthday Week Part 1

birthday Emma

Can you believe it Emma is 3 years old! Where has time gone! It is crazy to look and back and see how much she has changed just in this past year. She is the sweetest, loving little girl I know... who also loves to go "Rrrroar" at you. She makes me laugh everyday and says the sweetest things to me. (The other day she gave me a big hug and told me she missed me, even though I was only away from her for a minute.)

To Celebrate our sweet Emma Jane's birthday we decided to keep it simple and fun... so we had a week long celebration hahaha!

We have been wanting to go check out Fairytale Town in our area for some time. So we figured why not for her birthday. We invited Emma's friend Jack and his family along for the fun. Jack (a.k.a Marci) was the best and got Emma some sunglasses her her birthday. She was obsessed! Haha it pretty much made her week.

Fairytale town was so much fun! It is pretty much like a glorified park. Each fairytale had a slide or animals, or play structure for the children. There was the crocked trail that went up and done and curved around. I think we followed the path at least 5 times. They even had the White Rabbits hole. The kiddos would race to slide down the hole then run back up to do it again. Jack little brother Phillip would often get trapped in the whole when all three of them would try to come down at the same time haha!

They even had a garden that the kids could go to and water the garden. Those poor plants! I have a feeling that Emma may have tried to drown them. She was just having to much fun using the watering can.

As we were leaving Fairytale Town, Emma came up to me and said "Mommy can I hold Jacks hand Please?" I then told her she had to ask Jack. So she promptly went over and said "Jack, hold your hand, Please?" Hahaha so we walked the rest of the way to the car with these two little friends holding hands the entire way. They crack me up so much. I just love how good of friends they are.

For lunch we asked Emma what she wanted to do. She surprised us all when she declared she wanted to go to Costco and have Samples. Not a Hot Dog, but Samples. LOL! I love how the simplest things make her happy. So of course we had to go to Costco and fulfill her wishes. That evening we had Pink pancakes for dinner. With Sprinkles! Best dinner ever hahaha! Emma was so excited. It is the only thing she has been asking for for her birthday. Then we packed up our bags and headed to Grama and Grampa's. When we got there they surprised us with a huge, yummy cake for Emma and Jake. (Jake's birthday is three days after Emma's) It was the perfect ending to the perfect birthday day!

Big Changes

Big changes are happening around here. Life is certainly about to get more interesting! After 3 and a half years we are officially saying goodbye to California and moving to.... BYU Icon Thats right! We are going back to school. And by we, I mean Jake. We are so excited to take this next step and have Jake get his MBA. This is going to be our first time living in Provo and we are so excited! With family and old friends living close by it is guaranteed to be a good time! So if you see a place to rent think of us ;) While we looking forward to the big changes, it is definitely bittersweet. We have had so much fun in California. We have loved being close to Jake's family and a couple of my family members. We have met so many amazing people out here that it will be sad to say goodbye. But I know that there are adventures waiting for us in this next chapter of our life. Now I have to take a minute and just brag about my husband. Jacob.Honsvick.Print.003 He is just simply amazing. He has worked so hard to get here and pulled many long hours. But throughout it all, he has made sure to keep our family his number one priority. I am just so proud of him and so grateful to have him as my husband. So here to two years of craziness ahead of us. There is no place else I would rather be.

Just One More Minute…

Today was one of those "I am such a awesome mom" moments. Haha not. I had several things that I had to get done this morning that Emma and Lizzy were left to entertain themselves.  Emma was quite excited because that meant she could watch Mickey Mouse longer with out me noticing. After awhile of working on my projects, I started to feel really guilty about not playing with my sweet little girls. I felt kinda lame not spending as much time with them as I normally do. I kept finding myself telling Emma "just a minute" or "let me just finish one more thing." Finally I decided enough was enough and it was time to play. Boy am I glad that I took that break. I had so much fun playing with my girls outside!   The weather could not be beat. And Little Lizzy was full of smiles and babbles. She was talking about everything an anything.  I just love watching her look around and discover everything. She is always so fascinated by the littlest things. I just love it!   One of Emma and my favorite things to do outside is lay a blanket down and look for birds in the sky. Lizzy's favorite thing to do is to "fly" above us lol!   As I played  outside with Emma, I was amazed with how much imagination she has. She set up her Little People doll house on our little picnic blanket and talked to me about her little dolls. I learned who they were, their names,  what foods they like to eat, what makes them happy or sad (we had to kiss one of them better) and how they cook dinner in their house . It was just too cute to watch. I will forever treasure each moment that I spend with my girls. I know that they will not be this age for long. So I will gladly set aside my projects and take time with them. After all my daughters make each day more beautiful then the last.

Perfect Beach Day

A couple of weeks ago my sister and brother-in-law came to visit. To say we had a blast is a understatement! While they were here we of course just had to go to the beach. And of course if we are going to the beach we have to invite Jared and Kashari along. The weather was perfect. But, seriously, it was better weather then we sometimes have in the summer. Gotta love California.

We started the morning attempting our hand at crabbing and fishing. We ended up catching a couple of crabs. Which were delicious to eat, just saying... anyways while we were crabbing we were able to find a star fish and tons of little crabs walking around the rocks. It was so cool! Emma was even brave enough to touch a star fish once.

There was this seal that was swimming around the jetty that we were on. He was our sworn enemy. All morning long he would dive at our crab pots trying to get either our bait or our crabs. Once he had a star off with Mark, haha, all because we took the crabs out of the water before he could get to them. Sadly that seal ended up getting us back... he tore off our bait and then gloated. You might think that I am joking when I say he gloated. But he did! It was pretty funny though...

When at the beach it is a necessity to have a picnic and play in the water. Emma and Easton had a blast! Pure joy!

This picture makes Jake and I laugh every time. Its like they are planning a great escape or daring each other to go "touch the butt."

Later in the day we tried clamming. And by try I mean we really just played in the sandy mud. Best.Day. Ever!

It really was the perfect day to spend on the beach. Best of all was that we were able to be with some of our amazing family. This was an adventure that will definitely need to be repeated!
